The New Woman Retreat – Byron Bay 24 – 27th of November 2023

The New Woman Retreat has been in the making for many years. Something I wish I personally could have attended when I became a single mother.

A four-day child-free retreat focusing on YOU because you deserve it.

Daily meditation, yoga, and workshops specifically designed for women with children who have been or are going through a separation or divorce from their children’s other parent, widows, or single mums by choice. It doesn’t matter if you are going through the process (or are about to), have been single for some time, or have even re-partnered or married. We all share the common bond of wanting to make the most of the next chapter of our lives.

We’ll talk and learn about listening and connecting with our body and the nervous system, change and life transition, self-care, creating awareness, healing, mindfulness, mindset, dealing with overwhelm, perspective, purpose and values, stress reduction, freedom through yoga, the koshas, and more!

Places limited – 10 women maximum.

Location

The retreat will be held at the gorgeous Altitude 261. The address is 261 Settlement Road, Main Arm, NSW.

Altitude 261 is a 45 minutes drive from either Gold Coast or Byron/Ballina airports and is 12 minutes from Mullumbimby. Though Settlement Road is mostly gravel and is rough in sections, a 4WD is not necessary. Small 2-wheel drive cars may find it more of a challenge but should be ok.

Approx 6 km after leaving Mullumbimby via Main Arm Rd turn left into Settlement Rd (or if you come via Billinudgel turn right into Settlement Rd 2 km after the Pocket and Main Arm Rd intersection).

Head up Settlement Rd for two and a half kilometers, and then look out for our gate and the sign ‘Altitude 261’ on the left (if you get as far as crossing the creek you’ve gone too far and will need to reverse!).

You are now on the property. Head up our sealed concrete driveway for the last kilometer until you get to the house.

*Airport transfers may be available – TBC.

Food

Homestyle vegetable-based meals are consciously prepared, delicious, nutritious, varied, and cooked with love by our own personal chef Cade McConnell.

Cade’s approach to cooking is an extension of his spiritual practice and one of his expressions of art. His cooking is inspired by his travels, both local and abroad, and deepened by his practices of yoga and meditation.

Through his catering services and cooking workshops, he hopes to inspire others to relate to food and life with reverence, as part of a collective contribution to a more peaceful and harmonious world.

He uses organic and seasonal market produce and prepares all his food from scratch, and cooks in clay pots, which have been crafted by artisians from around the world, which enhances the flavour and adds minerals to the food.

Breakfasts may include spiced oat porridge, baked cinnamon pear, turmeric granola, coconut yogurt with raw honey and goji berries, local sourdough, zucchini and mushroom bruschetta, and smashed avocado with green tahini whip, dukkah, rocket and herbs.

Lunch might involve creamy pumpkin and carrot soup with seasonal salad, local sourdough, and GF herb bread with homemade dukkah, herbs and homemade chilli paste. Or maybe ayurvedic lentil and vegetable dahl with fermented rice pancakes, seasonal salad, and a date and tamarind chutney.

And dinner can be Ayurvedic moong dal with turmeric rose and fennel rice, pumpkin curry, south Indian beetroot, coconut chutney, and local market greens. Or maybe slow-cooked ratatouille with creamy rosemary potatoes, lemon and herb white beans, rocket salad, and baked polenta. Or it might be blue corn tortillas with spiced cauliflower, black beans, pineapple salsa, guacamole, and cabbage slaw.

We will also have afternoon tea and a delicious dessert after dinner which might be homemade chocolate or a spiced almond and tahini cookie.

Organic fruit is available throughout the day as is a selection of teas, coffee, and filtered water.

Please note this is an alcohol-free retreat. We want you to come away feeling detoxed, refreshed, and rejuvenated, as your best self.
