The New Woman Retreat

The New Woman Retreat has been in the making for many years. Something I wish I personally could have attended when I became a single mother.

A four-day child-free retreat focusing on YOU because you deserve it.

Daily meditation, yoga, and workshops specifically designed for women with children who have been or are going through a separation or divorce from their children’s other parent, widows, or single mums by choice. It doesn’t matter if you are going through the process (or are about to), have been single for some time, or have even re-partnered or married. We all share the common bond of wanting to make the most of the next chapter of our lives.

We’ll talk and learn about listening and connecting with our body and the nervous system, change and life transition, self-care, creating awareness, healing, mindfulness, mindset, dealing with overwhelm, perspective, purpose and values, stress reduction, freedom through yoga, the koshas, and more!

Inclusions:

  • Accommodation for three nights.
  • All the delicious, wholesome, and nutritious food you can eat – breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon snacks plus coffee and tea.
  • Use of the retreat facilities including the swimming pool.
  • All workshops, yoga, and meditation classes – five workshops, six yoga classes, and three meditation/mindfulness classes.
  • Friendships and memories for life.

Hi!! I’m Julia!

I became a single mum when my baby was 2 months old. She’s now 10. I’ll be honest, it wasn’t an easy road, and it took me a good couple of years to get my life back on track, but I did it! And you know what? I am happy. In fact, I am extremely happy… I’ve never been happier. And if you’re not already, you will get there too!

I’m a CDC Certified Divorce Coach®, CDC Certified Divorce Transition and Recovery Coach, and mentor for single mothers all over the world.

I love to travel, cook and eat food, meditate, do yoga, run with my running buddy (my dog Pierre), and the beach is my favorite place in the whole world. I love being out in the sun and in (or on) the water ☀

The most important things in the world to me are my daughter and husband (yes, re-partnering is possible), my other family members, my friends, my clients, and my community.

I specialise in working with mothers who have lost themselves and their self-esteem, are stuck in a rut and confused about how to move forwards, and are feeling overwhelmed, alone, broken, afraid, embarrassed, and/or angry. They feel guilty and worried about how their breakup will affect their children, and are ultimately wanting change, but are not sure how to get there. They are living in survival mode.

I help them rebuild their lives, reconnect with themselves and gain back their self-esteem, feel secure and confident within themselves, get direction, and feel happy, hopeful, and excited about the future.

I am genuinely passionate about helping single mums get back on track and feel supported, and not alone. I know that, together, we can create the happy single mum life that I’m sure you want.

In addition to coaching women, I am also a blogger and the host of the Single Mother Survival Guide podcast, and I run Thrive Tribe – my global membership for single mothers. In everything I do, I aim to inform single mothers on relevant issues, support single mothers on their journey, inspire them, and motivate them to create the happy single mother life that they want.

I also contribute to other online publications such as Kidspot, Mamamia, and Huffington Post, have been interviewed on many podcasts (including Kidspot’s The Juggling Act), and have been live at the desk on Channel 7’s The Daily Edition talking about single motherhood, and on SBS’s, The Swiping Game, talking single parenting, sex, and dating.

I am hugely passionate about mindfulness and meditation and also have a Diploma in Mindfulness and have completed my Meditation Teacher Training.

I am currently also studying at Brown’s School of Professional Studies to obtain my Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Teaching Certificate.

I can’t wait to meet and hang out with you!

Before anything else, I am a healer. My preferred medium of healing is through tactile/touch, and education.

After over 25 years of experience in the beauty industry – in all capacities – I’ve been able to upskill and add to my scope of expertise through teaching, reiki, reflexology, and, of course, yoga.

I discovered yoga 10 years ago when I was training for a triathlon, and it changed my life in ways I never imagined! Not only did it give me the perfect platform in which to consolidate my skills, but a broader scope on how to offer ‘healing’ as a holistic practice.

When I “lost” my previous businesses due to the pandemic and the consequence of two lockdowns, I used my compliance and auditing background in the training sector to gain my YTT accreditation online, opened a studio where I offered yoga, beauty treatments, and esoteric services, subsequently leading me to brand new blessings. Often a step backward can lead to a beautiful new path.

Sessions with me, whether it be yoga classes, workshops, meditations, or treatments, will include fractals of the Vedic philosophies, and my favourite subject to refer to is the Ashtanga Yogic System, otherwise known as the 8 Limbs of Yoga.

On a personal level: I am a single mother of an amazing teenage son, who is also my favourite person to spend time with. He plays a lot of sports and together we enjoy listening to most genres of music. I love the insight I get into his perspective on the world via his music choices and likewise, he is always open to suggestions of songs and artists who helped to shape me during my own formative years.

I enjoy reading about topics such as ancient and modern history, philosophy (particularly The Stoics) metaphysics, and astronomy but I turn to crosswords when I really want to chill out. That said, truly my favourite pastime is sleeping and napping!

Through my yoga practice, I’ve learned so much about the abstract nature of energy & consciousness and the vibration and frequencies through which humanity experiences life in this continuum. I choose to view the world around me through a lens of gratitude. It’s enabled me to understand the nature of life and when I feel the force of the evolutionary paradigm through the setbacks I face, I remember a wisdom my father used to say to me:

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.”

My advice to anyone embarking on a healing journey is this: embrace change to minimise your suffering, adapt to an ever-changing climate, integrate your traumas, learn through adversity, grow through your pain, and most importantly, BELIEVE in yourself! This is your life, only you can live it.

Yours in love and yoga 🧘‍♀️
