The daily schedule of a working and homeschooling single mum in quarantine.

Spending two weeks in quarantine as a single mum whilst also working, plus homeschooling, plus recovering from heartbreak was truly one of the most challenging times I have faced as a single parent.

One of the main things that got me through each day was having a routine. Don’t get me wrong, the whole experience still just about broke me, but I do think having that structure was one thing that helped me get through that period.

Single Mum Solo Vacay – Koh Lipe

In December I celebrated my first Christmas without my daughter. Okay, celebrated is the wrong word. For a carol singing, Santa hat-wearing, Christmas LOOOOOVING gal, “survived” is probably a more accurate description.

I always knew that after almost seven years as a single mum, and six Christmases with my six-year-old daughter, I would find it tough. So I decided that if I couldn’t celebrate with my daughter, the next best thing would be to take myself on a little rejuvenating vacay.

I jumped at the chance because I have never experienced a female-only gym environment and had heard only good things about Fernwood Fitness.

A month on, here are my top 10 reasons to try Fernwood Fitness. Continue Reading →

The day I realised I let my daughter down.

This blog post is a bit different. It’s not what I would usually write about, but writing is therapeutic for me and I feel I need to get my thoughts and feelings out, and on to paper (so to speak). I also want to answer some of the common questions I have been getting because I am completely overwhelmed with messages and emails at the moment (which is also super lovely) about what happened to my daughter and I last week with the Instagram impersonator.

The 19th September was an awful day for me. I had just clicked on my notifications on Instagram when I noticed the very top notification; it was the last person who had liked one of my photos. I didn’t recognize the name or handle, but it was the Instagram user’s profile photo that caught my eye. It was a photo of my daughter and I in the Blue Mountains.Continue Reading →
